Nine Months

Elizabeth at 9 months old!
This month has been one of significant development - lots of changes in a really short period of time. Here are some things she's been up to lately...

At 8.5 months sitting up in her crib when I went in to get her.

Now she is pulling up to EVERYTHING! Has made it up two steps, and has started couch surfing! Yesterday she had pulled up and was standing in the pack n play.
Loves sweet potato puffs she can pick them up and eat them by herself. Likes to drink water out of the end of a straw. She's gotten picky lately about her baby food and has decided that fruits are better than vegetables - ha! So in order for her to eat the vegetables I have to put a fruit with it. Had her first cracker last week...

First time in the pool on Monday afternoon and she loved it!! She never cried even though the water was freezing...
Found herself in the mirror and I even caught her giving herself kisses...pulling up!She plays hard and likes to explore new things

Trying to put her doll in the car...so smart!
Says...mama, dada, and bababa and she's been saying what sounds like "Hi" for a while now!
Here's a video of Madilynn playing peek-a-boo with Elizabeth the other night and she loved it...lots of giggles!

Mother's Day

Sunday morning the girls woke me with a card and some snuggle time! The card was great with Daddy's "help" each of their hands were traced inside along with some wonderful artwork, of course.

In our pajamas!

and pulled up to standing position all by herself for the first time
Where did Elizabeth go?
In Madilynn's room checking out the princess crown
Sunday when I got her up from her nap I found her like this
Heading outside!

Okay...you get the idea, she's everywhere and thinks she's "big" too!!

mobility changes everything...

So, Elizabeth has been crawling for a week now, and she is EVERYWHERE!! Over the last couple of days I've found her down the hall heading into the bathroom, in Madilynn's room, in the kitchen...but her favorite place to go is in the tiled entryway where we keep our shoes. Tennis shoes are her favorite, and it's all I can do to keep her away from them. She gives herself away though, because she makes a loud grunting noise when she gets on the tile, like she's trying to get to them as quick as she can (before I get her)!

How is Madilynn taking it you ask? Well a few days ago she told me, "I don't want her to get bigger, because then she'll just get all my stuff!" (In the winey voice of course) So then I had to explain that they would have to share the toys, and that Elizabeth loves her so much and wants to play with her. Madilynn has had a better attitude lately, but she still has her moments. This morning she was calling to Elizabeth trying to get her to crawl into her bedroom to play, then once Elizabeth got in there, Madilynn came out with a bucket full of toys saying she was going to play in the living room so Elizabeth wouldn't mess up her tea party. I talked Madilynn into playing in her room with us and she set everything up in her closet instead, but she still brought us tea and shared with Elizabeth all on her own.

I am loving this phase watching Elizabeth explore and check things out it is so fun! I feel like I missed out on this stage a little as I was working 8 hours a day when Madilynn started crawling. I just can't believe how much she has changed in one short week. They grow up soooo fast! When I go to get her out of her crib in the morning or after nap I never know what I'll find. She might be on her belly, or like this morning her head was at the complete opposite side of the crib than where I put her and she was still on her back and all covered up.

Sorry, no pictures on this post. Michael has been in Washington, D.C. the past couple of days (I'm so jealous) for a conference and I had him take the camera (hopefully he'll have good pictures to share). He's coming home tonight and we (I am) are so excited! This was the first time I've stayed alone with the girls in Utah. We've had a good time together...I took them out for Chinese last night and that was the first time I'd taken them out to eat by myself, they did great! And it was great to get out of the house!! We have endured snow on and off here and cold temperatures, while Daddy's enjoyed the 80's and humidity in D.C. My idea of taking them to the park to play was shot...hopefully this afternoon will be nicer outside. This morning we (I) made chocolate chip cookies while Madilynn helped Elizabeth explore the bag of oranges and apples on the kitchen floor. Probably not the best morning snack, but we had cookies and milk - hey it's FRIDAY....and we survived!

Well Elizabeth's taking her morning nap and Madilynn is watching the movie Thumbelina now and I'm finishing baking those cookies...But it's almost lunch time and Elizabeth will be waking up shortly...

I'm planning to take the girls down to the park tomorrow for the first Gardener's Market of the season, while Michael will be attending USU graduations for most of the day tomorrow. Sunday will be our day to hang out together and relax!

All the extra rambling due to the fact that I've missed out on some adult conversations for the past couple of days! But, I hope you've enjoyed hearing what we've been up to this week.

Big Red Tractor

Yesterday morning Michael got to drive a tractor up onto campus for "decorative use" during a ground-breaking ceremony for a new Ag building, so he invited Madilynn to ride along with him! We got a quick picture with Elizabeth too before they left the building.

Madilynn was excited she had a special seat and seat belt!
Here they are coming out of the shop building...

Me & Elizabeth followed them in the car...Madilynn waving at me!
Got the tractor's parked for the ceremony...
Then we all went out for lunch and ice cream before taking Daddy back to work!

Bench Seat Project...

So, Saturday we finally made these bench seats for this wall in the living room! I had gotten the fabric a while back, but I'd been lacking the motivation to get the project done and I needed Michael's help. We got cheap particle board from Lowe's and they cut it to size for us, then I got 1 in. foam and batting at Hobby Lobby, we just wrapped it around and stapled it into the back, so easy! So you can see before it was just this planter box area, but I didn't want to fill it with a bunch of fake plants - too much money, and wouldn't be useful for us. A seat is much more practical especially since I just added toys to this side of the living room. Now Madilynn can sit back and read books!

All finished!
Also, on Saturday Madilynn got a haircut. We had about 2 in. cut off and it looks so cute and healthy now!

Daddy got a picture of Elizabeth with her eyes open!
