The Weekend...

Got a picture Friday night of the girls reading the Bible with Daddy before bed.  Eva has to join in these days, and Madilynn has started reading some of the stories!

 Saturday morning before our run.  Michael did the 10k and I did the 5k.  Lots of fun!!

 Saturday afternoon we made cupcakes for someone's birthday coming up...

 All done!

 Then Saturday night was a date night.  We went to the Utah State homecoming game and Ag BBQ!

 They called for a white-out in the stadium and I think it was achieved!

School Update...

Well...I think I've completed the task of changing out everyone's clothes for the fall season and new sizes!  What a task!  While doing that we found this Iowa State shirt that was given to Madilynn by our small group before we left Iowa.  Elizabeth is now 3, so the shirt fits her!  Anyways...Monday morning I was wearing my Iowa State t-shirt and Elizabeth asked me what was on my shirt and I told her and I said that she was born in Iowa.  Then I remembered the shirt...and said want to wear your shirt today?  So she did and she loved it!!!

This week we did the letter F. 

Here we are making "flowers" and learning how God wants us to be kind.

I think their favorite "f" thing to say was a line from the "Finding Nemo" movie...Madilynn kept repeating, "Fish are friends not food" and then she would say "that's what the great white shark said"! It's also written on our board...

On Tuesday our craft was a "fish"!

The girls were so creative in making their fish.  Madilynn named hers "Rainbow" like the fish we try to catch.  Elizabeth named hers "Striped Tail" see because he has stripes on his tail.

For the grandparents...here's what our bulletin board looks like this week!  Lots of "Fun"!!

Madilynn completed her reading list (10 books) on Monday and got to pick a prize.  She drew out Aggie Ice Cream, so Tuesday after dinner we took the girls to get ice cream for dessert! Tomorrow we'll be baking Chocolate chip cookies for Daddy to take to his meeting in the afternoon.  We've had a fun week together!

Eva is walking!!!

She's taking some steps anyway!!  This past week I felt like she was taking 2 or 3 steps getting around things especially when I wasn't looking.  When Daddy got home Thursday evening he took Eva inside and got this video.  She took 8 or 9 steps for him before she fell!

Then Sunday night in the kitchen we took this video.  She was being silly!  If I asked her to come to me she would just take about 1 or 2 steps then fall and laugh...then when Daddy asked her to walk to him she would take several more before falling down laughing!!  Can't believe her...

Tractor Parade 2012

Friday was the annual tractor parade at Daddy's work!  The girls were so excited to get to go see the tractors...

Elizabeth got to ride with Daddy last year....so, this year was Madilynn's turn again!!

Elizabeth, Eva and I went up on campus to watch the parade go by, we ended up being joined by friends too!!

So much fun!  It took about an hour for the tractors to make the loop.  Then we took Daddy to lunch...such an exciting day!

School & Cooking

I tried to take more pictures this week of some fun school stuff we did!

On Wednesday we talked a little about the continent of Europe and worked on the puzzle.  I mentioned that Papa went to Europe when I was little and Madilynn said, "How did you know?"and "Did he have to leave really early?"  also brought up some funny conversations about his missing the ship at one of the stops and Madilynn concluded..."Papa needed to look at his watch!"  So funny!

We went outside for Science and explored the yard with the magnifying glass. 

She drew her discoveries in her science notebook:

Thursday afternoon I decided I had to do something with all the apples we still had from the orchard.  I made these clusters as a visual to me of how many pies or tarts I could make.  I ended up peeling and cooking the apples in cinnamon, sugar, and spice then freezing them in the right amount for a pie.  It was fun, hope it works...

Then while I cooked the apples they were off to play dress up...Eva too!

She's taking a couple of steps here and there I think mostly when I'm not looking - ha!

I also made these creamy rosemary potatoes from the Pioneer Woman cookbook for supper - yum!

We've decided Friday is our cooking/baking day together.  This week we decided to use up some more of those apples and make apple turnovers for breakfast!

We used a recipe from Madilynn's cookbook that was pretty simple and she could even read it!

Elizabeth helped me make scrambled eggs...(I'm glad that shaker was about empty cause she ended up dunking it in the eggs!)

Apple Turnover a.k.a. mini apple pie

Later that morning I caught Eva with the library bag (with a couple of books in it) up on her shoulder and trying to open the door...guess she was ready to go!
