Ten Months

Elizabeth has gotten so big...she's everywhere, pulling up, holding on and walking around everywhere she can.
She's eating good too, basically whatever we give her. She loves her banana at breakfast. She will eat banana over cheerios! She loves avacado and yogurt too these days. Trying to get her drinking out of a sippie cup, but that's taking a while. She's just not too fond of it.
can't stay still in the chair...
loves swinging at the park

loves Madilynn so much that she thinks she needs to do everything she does
Her top front teeth are coming in...they cut through yesterday
On the left side you see the tissue hanging down from the blister that was there! She's done well getting these teeth and we've been giving her tylenol to get through it! She'll be one before we know it...the summer is flying by!

Kite

Starting last week, we aren't sure where the idea came from, but Madilynn wanted Daddy to make her a kite...and that was all she talked about for a few days. We found a kite for $1 at Wal-Mart. We took it out one evening hoping to catch the canyon winds (normally not very windy here). There wasn't a lot of wind, so Daddy had to run around to get the kite up...
Here they are...kite in upper left side
Madilynn...so small against those mountains
Madilynn loved it anyway...she would run after Daddy and just squeel when he would get the kite up, it was a great experience!
We played around on the playground a bit, and Elizabeth played for the first time!
A few nights later we walked out of a store and Madilynn noticed that the wind was blowing and asked if we could fly the kite again. We had it in the car still so we headed over to the park, and had lots of fun. Mommy and Madilynn even got to fly the kite some - the wind was good! I guess we'll be watching out for a windy evening again sometime!

It's SUMMER!!!

Wednesday afternoon we got Madilynn's big bed(twin bed) put up in her room!! She had been in a toddler bed (crib mattress) and had told us that she needed a bigger bed because her feet touched the bottom while she slept! Thursday morning I asked her how she slept and she said, "Good, my feet didn't touch the bottom!"
Such a big girl, I can't believe it!!
She loves it!
just before bedtime...
yesterday Elizabeth kissing Dora!! So funny...look how far she's stretched!
So it's finally SUMMER and I'm so excited!! It has finally warmed up here pretty good...It's actually warm enough to make you think about swimming! (I didn't know if it was even going to get that hot here)
So we took a trip to Lowe's with Daddy and got some pretty flowers for the back deck!
Elizabeth doing the spider crawl on the deck
more flowers...
and our vegetable garden so far...
We've already gotten some spinach from the garden, and tonight we're going to use some of the lettuce for hamburgers! I think we are about 1-2 months behind AR in getting vegetables, but we also started with seeds. So we planted spinach, broccoli, carrots, leaf lettuce, snap peas, butternut squash, pumpkin, zuccini, yellow squash, and corn. The last row is corn that is just starting to come up. And we have a strawberry plant in a pot.
Lastly, I had to get a picture of Elizabeth today in this cute outfit that was Madilynn's

she was crawling over the dora couch!
Havin' fun!!
Also, Elizabeth's top front teeth are coming soon. They are all swollen and blistered - poor baby! They haven't broken through yet, but hopefully soon...a little extra fussy lately.
p.s. Daddy got home late late Tuesday night and the girls have hardly left his side! He just went in to the office today after lunch!

while Daddy was away...

Sunday afternoon at the park. I took a quick picture with my phone to send to Daddy and I thought it turned out so cute!

Monday we stayed around the house most of the day and hung out together...the girls played hard! Here's another cell phone pic saying, "Good Morning" to Daddy!
This is how they play with the farm toys...put them all up on the coffee table and stand and play! Elizabeth joins in on the action too...
Monday evening just before bedtime I could tell Madilynn was missing Daddy and playing rough with him...she decided she needed to roll around with Elizabeth and tickle her! Elizabeth is just laughing so much, she loved it!!
This morning we took Madilynn to preschool, then Elizabeth and I came back home and played. Here she is playing with the car. She enjoyed the music it played and would start dancing to it...
She played so intently with this book for over 10 minutes. She was doing good as long as the book stayed open and she could play with the pages.

But as soon as it would close and she couldn't open it again, she got very frustrated (as seen below)
I didn't interfere, I just let her figure it out, but it was funny! I would try to offer a different toy or book and she didn't want anthing but that one. Anyways after she got really mad I decided it was time for her morning nap.
After Elizabeth ate some lunch we went and picked up Madilynn and then went to eat some lunch at Jimmy Johns. Madilynn told me about what she did at preschool. It was so fun! She said she played dress up, and I asked her what she dressed up as and she said, "the button one". I'm guessing a dress with buttons on it...Then we got a little ice cream on the way home!
Madilynn pretending to play the drums in the marching band...
Both playing with the car (another pic we sent to Daddy!)
Daddy will be home late tonight, and we are so excited for him to be back!
Just have to note: Madilynn has really missed her Daddy this time he was gone. He left Sunday morning, and that afternoon when I said let's go to the park she said, "Daddy gonna meet us there?" I said no he's a long way away at work, he even had to ride in an airplane that's how far away he is. Then as we were leaving the park she said, "Is Daddy gonna be home?" and I said, no not tonight in a couple of days. Then she said, "but he's gonna come on the airplane real fast." And I just left it at that. Monday morning after she woke up the first words out of her mouth were "is Daddy gonna be home today?". Then today when I picked her up from preschool she was asking for Daddy again! I'm sure she asked a couple more times than I've mentioned here, but I just thought it was so cute I had to share!

Father's Day Weekend!

Daddy and his girls...
We love you Daddy and miss you already! Hope you have a great Father's Day (times two)! These girls are so blessed to have you in their lives! I love seeing them light up when you walk into the room! At this stage with Elizabeth if Daddy walks by her and doesn't pick her up she starts crying for him...and I have to say it's so cute!!
Well, our weekend was Friday & Saturday, since Daddy had to leave this morning to go to a conference. We spent a lot of time together and kept busy...we had a lot of fun too! We went to Summerfest on Friday evening and then again on Saturday for lunch. Then Saturday evening we had friends over for pizza and then went to the 4-H benefit rodeo.

So, Friday after nap I heard Madilynn in Elizabeth's room and went to get Elizabeth up and Madilynn was on top of the changing table, getting into the crib! First time she's done this, so I had to get a picture! Elizabeth was just laughing at her.
Summerfest is an Arts Festival here in Logan. It was just a few blocks from our house, so we ended up walking there both days. It was beautiful weather!

We sat on our picnic blanket and ate dinner Friday night. Madilynn had a great time she played a little red light/green light with Daddy, then she couldn't help herself from dancing to the live music. The song "brown-eyed girl" was playing and she just started dancing...it was so cute!Madilynn enjoying her pizza on the picnic blanket!
Elizabeth trying to get everything!!
Elizabeth and Daddy after we enjoyed some yummy raspberry italian ice!
Saturday we headed out about 11 am and walked through our local gardener's market, then onto Summerfest again.
Daddy & Madilynn
We looked around a little more, then enjoyed lunch and a treat...a snow cone for Madilynn, and italian ice again for us! It was sooo good!
Elizabeth after naptime playing with Daddy's hat...

After Madilynn woke up I braided her hair for the rodeo! I don't think I've ever done this before and was surprised at how good it turned out!!
Big smile!
first rodeo in the west, can you believe the scenery...
Madilynn eating some sour candy while watching the horses

This picture was taken at almost 9pm. Can you tell Elizabeth is tired? The girls lasted 2 hrs., then it was BEDTIME! We had to leave before the barrel racing and bull riding, but we still had a great time! First rodeo we had been to in a few years!

Spinach Quiche

Last night I made a (crust-less) spinach quiche (I've been wanting to make for a while) with baby spinach from our garden!
I forgot to take a picture before we cut into it, but I guess you can tell it was good! I had just enough left to have some for lunch today!!
I had some gum tissue grafting done last Wednesday morning and have basically been on a liquid diet since then. Lots of ensure and milk shakes! Anyways, so I haven't cooked dinner in over a week...so last night I was feeling much better and wanted to try some soft foods. So I made the quiche and some potatoes! It was good and Elizabeth really enjoyed the potatoes too! No quiche for her yet - not supposed to have egg-whites till she's 1.

I also got my hair-cut yesterday afternoon...
Not really different, just a trim!

Preschool

Madilynn had her first day of preschool on Tuesday! She's going Tuesday/Thursday mornings (8-12)...and she loved it...so much that she cried when we picked her up because she didn't want to leave! She is very social and was so excited to meet some new friends. She's been wanting to go to school for the last year and has been asking when she could. She's going for one month this summer and hopefully they'll be able to fit her in in the fall as well!

After we got home having a little lunch...mac & cheese and olives...her request!
I think she ate about 15 olives!!
Then yesterday afternoon she did a little painting...she loves painting!!
While Madilynn was away yesterday morning at school Elizabeth wasn't sure what to do...here she is in the tent!

and reading books with Mommy...
So, speaking of being a big girl and all...Madilynn is getting a BIG bed! Well it's a twin, but definately bigger than her toddler bed with crib mattress.
We still have to get the frame and bedding for it...but, it's coming and she's excited!
Just had to note that the tent has been moved into the living room and the girls have really enjoyed playing in it the past several days!
