15 Months & More Snow!!

As of yesterday, Elizabeth is now 15 months old! She is getting so big! She weighed 21.4lbs at the doctor last week which means she's already gained 2lbs. since August. She is so much fun and is always making us laugh. Her newest word is "baby" she'll point to a picture of her and say it, or while playing with the babies, it's so cute!
Still working on those teeth...all 4 1yr. molars are in and those 4 eye teeth aren't far behind, they are looking a little swollen already.
that silly grin...
Here's what we did yesterday....
It snowed all day yesterday (and all night long). Looks like we got about a foot of snow. Us girls stood at the door and watched Daddy shovel the driveway. He did it twice yesterday and then had to clear it again this morning! I told him for Christmas we may need to ask for contributions to a snowblower fund - ha!

This morning it was just beautiful and clear. I was able to watch the sun rise over the mountains. Here's a view of Logan Canyon from our dining room window this morning!
I thought the snow on the trees was so pretty...it's still there!
Note: the railing on the deck was cleared twice yesterday! What you see accumulated is just from last night!
the backyard/river...water is still flowing quickly!
As the sun came over the mountains, the sky is so blue today!
They're calling for more snow later in the week. Skiing at the nearby mountain opens this Friday! Meanwhile, Nana & Papa are on a cruise ship headed to Mexico as we speak, expecting 80 degree weather this week! Crazy!!

Thanksgiving Day!

This year Daddy made his first Pecan pie...
turned out sooo good!
Daddy fried the turkey...and it was yummy!
Here's the pies...chocolate, pecan, and pumpkin!
Elizabeth caught Daddy when he came in from checking the turkey
the closest to a family picture we got...
Daddy carving the turkey
Mom & Mama this one's for you...my first time making dressing by myself!
Here's the dressing and sweet potato casserole
Granny & Pepaw reading books
and don't worry this being Elizabeth first Thanksgiving where she could enjoy the food, she definately got her share of the sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie...
and chocolate pie from Daddy's plate!
Where was Madilynn? I just realized she's not in any of these pictures. Thursday was a rough day for her, although her eyes were much better she had symptoms of the croup and was not feeling well. She didn't eat very much and got to watch several movies during the break!
We had a great day and a great visit with Granny & Pepaw though most of it was spent at home (with sick kids). Michael and I were able to go to the Nutcracker Ballet Friday night - have a little date night while we had babysitters!

A Snowman & Sledding!

Sunday morning...me & Elizabeth!
Trying out the hat that matches her little jacket!
Daddy & Elizabeth...somebody's still sleepy!
We stayed home from church Sunday morning, Elizabeth was starting to feel much better, but by nap time Madilynn was much worse. She looked to have pink eye, so I got her up from her nap and took her into a clinic (I'm so glad it was open on a Sunday) and she did have pink eye. So we went immediately to get the medicine along with some extra hand soap and hand sanitizer. Thankfully no one else got it!!
Granny & Pepaw had arrived in town by the time we got home and she was so excited to see them, but didn't want to get them sick.

We got some snow Sunday night/Monday morning and by Tuesday Madilynn was feeling a lot better and even got outside with Daddy to build her first snowman! (She's been talking about it for a while, just waiting to get enough snow!)
great snow for rolling...

Daddy getting them stacked...
the finished snowman!
We got lots more snow Tuesday night, so by Wednesday morning we were ready to get out and play! Little did we now it was a whole 7 degrees outside...
the girls getting all bundled up
Elizabeth was the pink marshmallow this year...she had lots of fun, but it was almost too much for her to walk in!
So I got the sleds out and she got to ride!
getting pulled to the backyard for some sledding!
Madilynn went first

Madilynn head first...
Granny & Madilynn
Mommy & Elizabeth made it down too...
Then it was time to head inside for a snack & hot cocoa, our faces were freezing!

Once the girls went down for nap, we started baking pies for Thursday!

Videos...

Here are a couple of videos we have taken recently. The first is what Elizabeth has been doing with the blocks lately. She puts it in her mouth and blows it out then laughs and does it again!

The second is of the girls "dancing" the other night. Elizabeth is "dancing" at the very beginning by turning in circles!

Catching Up...Our Week

One day last week, Elizabeth wearing her cute sweater. I caught a picture with her eyes open, so I had to share. She's enjoying a cracker.
This is a rare occurrence, them both sitting down watching a show. Thomas the train had just come on and Elizabeth sat down and starting watching, so I got a quick picture before she was up and moving again...
Monday morning our new ottoman was delivered! Madilynn was excited to see it when she got home from preschool. She's showing us that she's as long as the ottoman!
Then began a little photo shoot with them on the ottoman, they are so silly!

Monday evening Elizabeth had a fever and has been sick all week. We thought she just had a virus and croup so I'd been giving her tylenol and keeping the humidifier running. Then she still had a fever Thursday evening, so I took her to the doctor Friday morning and she had an ear infection in her right ear. So glad I took her and we got antibiotics, she's doing so much better already!
Wednesday Madilynn made this chef hat at school!
They were learning about bread this week and even got to take a field trip on Friday to see how bread is made. Then everyone got to take home a mini loaf of chocolate chip bread.
Wednesday night I decided to try some new cookies. Michael and I like cinnamon/white chocolate chip scones, so I thought I'd try to re-create it in a cookie. I just took my chocolate chip cookie recipe and added 1 tsp of cinnamon to the dry ingredients and substituted white chocolate chips...they turned out yummy!!
Thursday night I made a baked potato soup for the first time along with some golden squash rolls ( I learned of the rolls from a cooking class I went to in Sept.). The soup and the rolls turned out great! We're going to make them again for Thanksgiving. Here are the rolls just before baking them...
Here are the girls playing with Daddy on Thursday night. We have stayed around the house more this week, since Elizabeth was sick.
Saturday after breakfast we decided it was time to get a Christmas tree. Note: We went and bought a tree since for the last 3 years we have used a small table top tree. It was like Christmas just opening the box and getting out all of the ornaments we hadn't seen in 3 years since they were in storage! They are calling for snow storms through next week... (I know traditionally it's a little early to get it out, but we're not going to be here for Christmas and we wanted to get to enjoy it for a few weeks before we leave. - Also, most of the houses on our street already have there Christmas trees up as of a week ago)
Elizabeth was very interested and got to help Daddy take it out of the box
Madilynn & Elizabeth helping

Madilynn helped me put the ornaments on the tree, while Daddy kept Elizabeth rounded up!
Showing Madilynn this rocking horse she got for her 1st Christmas
Elizabeth checking out an ornament
The snow started falling just after noon!
the girls watching it snow
the tree all finished!
Saturday afternoon we realized Madilynn had a fever. So just when we thought things were getting better Madilynn's got something too, maybe just a cold. You can just tell in her eyes she doesn't feel good. Her eyes have been red and watery yesterday and today.
Saturday evening Elizabeth riding the tractor. I didn't think I had a picture of her doing this lately, she basically stands up and walks around on it, so cute how she's figured it out.
So, that was our week. Hoping the girls get back to normal soon! Granny & Pepaw are currently driving to our house to spend the week! Madilynn is so excited, I just hope she'll be able to get her nap/rest now before they get here later this afternoon.
