Holiday

Granny & Pepaw left out this morning after breakfast. It was a University Holiday today!! It was nice to have one more day together...so, what did we do??

We finally made it to Target...After lunch we headed out about 45 minutes away to the nearest store!
After checking out the SuperTarget and Sportsmans Warehouse which was next door, we went to Red Lobster for dinner. All places that aren't in Logan! We hadn't eaten at a Red Lobster since we lived in Iowa, so at least 6 months ago! It was so good...Elizabeth ate up the mac&cheese!
On the way home Madilynn took a little nap...
The girls were playing dress up! I walked into the living room and found this...Madilynn put her tutu over Elizabeth's head, so she could play dress up too, of course!!
They've had a big week/weekend and Madilynn is ready for preschool in the morning!! This is the last week for the summer session, then she'll have to wait until it starts back again in the fall.

Day Trip...Jackson Hole & Grand Tetons

Saturday we decided to head out of town for the day a check out Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park for the first time! Jackson is 3.5 hours away...not too far at all! We left out around 9am and arrived at 12:30 just in time for lunch! We ate at Mountain High Pizza Pie...pretty good!
On our way to Jackson, here's Bear Lake...
southern Idaho got this as we drove through...
Then we followed the Snake River up into Jackson...lots of people rafting, even though it was a cool day temps in the low 60's and windy!

After a little browsing we headed out to the Grand Teton National Park.

We stopped at an overlook at Jenny Lake before heading back to Jackson for dinner

Michael took our picture...Madilynn was exploring with Granny & Pepaw
Here we all are
We had a great time exploring! We headed back home after dinner and got back at midnight! It was quite a long day! We enjoyed a lazy Sunday...Michael and Pepaw played some golf, we took afternoon naps, and then went to dinner at Gia's (yummy Italian) for their last night in town.

Exploring...Tony Grove Lake

Thursday afternoon we headed out of town about 45min. away, in Logan Canyon, to Tony Grove Lake. Located at the top of a mountain, 7 miles up a steep, curvy, narrow road, sometimes with no guardrail...my first experience in that situation and I wasn't loving it! But we finally arrived and this is what we found...

We walked a trail around the lake (which took 1 hr, not sure how long it was)!
There were even areas where the snow hadn't melted all the way yet!
Still snow on some parts of the trail...
Madilynn enjoyed it and kept us going...

view from the other side of the lake...
On the car ride home. Can you see those top teeth coming in?
Before we left...here's Elizabeth enjoying her mango at lunch. After she would take a bite she would clap her hands and get so excited, must have been some really good mango!
Granny & Pepaw arrived at our house Tuesday afternoon after a trip to the Grand Canyon. They were able to attend the VBS celebration with us, as well as Tony Grove Lake! Friday night Michael and I had a date night...movie, dinner on the patio at Cafe Sabor (mexican), we went on campus to see the fireworks, then enjoyed shaved ice and cotton candy before heading home! I took this picture after we ate...

VBS 2010

We had Vacation Bible School last week...Michael taught 3rd-4th grade, and Madilynn got to attend (they had a 3-4yr class)! We spent some time the weekend before preparing and gathering decorations for the classroom...
On Monday Madilynn brought home this "dirt buddy" it was her craft for the day. We were to water it and put it in the sunlight...(pic taken on Friday, it had started growing a little!)

Then Sunday she walked in the kitchen and said, "It growed!"
Here it is today...a week after she made it...lots of hair!!
Thursday night they had the family celebration. Here's Madilynn sitting in the gym floor waiting for it to begin.
Michael's class made these and they were hanging in the gym. They put their handprints on the paper and then wrote out ways they could show God's love to others.
Elizabeth waiting for the show to begin!
Elizabeth loved the music and clapped and clapped!
Afterwards we took a tour to see all of the decorations, here's Michael's room.
On Friday they had some rainforest animals brought in from the zoo for the kids to see, a parrot, a snake, and a cockatoo! Madilynn brought home another craft they worked on a couple days this week. A dragonfly...
They also brought home class pictures and a CD with all of the music from the week! Michael made it through with prayers. They had a good turnout overall. He had the largest class with 14, including a few rowdy boys! We had a great time being involved, and Madilynn enjoyed going everyday!!

Ten Months

Elizabeth has gotten so big...she's everywhere, pulling up, holding on and walking around everywhere she can.
She's eating good too, basically whatever we give her. She loves her banana at breakfast. She will eat banana over cheerios! She loves avacado and yogurt too these days. Trying to get her drinking out of a sippie cup, but that's taking a while. She's just not too fond of it.
can't stay still in the chair...
loves swinging at the park

loves Madilynn so much that she thinks she needs to do everything she does
Her top front teeth are coming in...they cut through yesterday
On the left side you see the tissue hanging down from the blister that was there! She's done well getting these teeth and we've been giving her tylenol to get through it! She'll be one before we know it...the summer is flying by!

Kite

Starting last week, we aren't sure where the idea came from, but Madilynn wanted Daddy to make her a kite...and that was all she talked about for a few days. We found a kite for $1 at Wal-Mart. We took it out one evening hoping to catch the canyon winds (normally not very windy here). There wasn't a lot of wind, so Daddy had to run around to get the kite up...
Here they are...kite in upper left side
Madilynn...so small against those mountains
Madilynn loved it anyway...she would run after Daddy and just squeel when he would get the kite up, it was a great experience!
We played around on the playground a bit, and Elizabeth played for the first time!
A few nights later we walked out of a store and Madilynn noticed that the wind was blowing and asked if we could fly the kite again. We had it in the car still so we headed over to the park, and had lots of fun. Mommy and Madilynn even got to fly the kite some - the wind was good! I guess we'll be watching out for a windy evening again sometime!
