Get out and enjoy it - Sunday!

I know, I know...I'm just now updating about last Sunday, but better late than never, right?

So last Sunday after church we hung out at home the rest of the evening...

Madilynn painted her pumpkin! And she loved it, of course..

Just wanted to share a little story about something Madilynn told me one day last week...It was first thing in the morning and I was making breakfast. Madilynn told me there was a spider above the cabinets in the kitchen. I saw it, it wasn't real big and it was light brown. Anyway I couldn't reach it at the time and I continued to prepare breakfast. She came over and helped me watch where it went, so when it got down low enough I could kill it. (Note - Daddy had already gone to work that morning) Meanwhile she tells me, "Don't worry it won't hurt us, God is with us". I just wanted to cry...I'm amazed at her knowledge of Jesus at her age and I'm just so thankful that even though she may not understand what it all means right now, she's learning those truths and storing them away.

After painting the pumpkins we decided we should get outside and enjoy the pretty mild temperatures! They were calling for cold, rain and snow starting Sunday night and we thought it might be the last mildness before winter.

Daddy was already out mowing and mulching all the leaves in the yard...

So we joined him and the girls swang...

played some tee ball...

It was 5:05 when we went out and it proceeded to get dark pretty quickly with all the clouds moving in, along with the time change. I'm so glad we got out there and enjoyed those 45 minutes though!

The time change has had quite an affect on us this year (more than I can recall in the past), for some reason my body now wakes up at around 4 and 5am and I've had trouble going back to sleep, and the girls have been getting up super early this week (well before 7, when they would normally sleep till 7:30 or 8)! I think by Friday we're finally getting adjusted! Hopefully this weekend will help us too...

The 'Playroom'...

Our downstairs den/playroom has acquired some furniture! We moved the couch and two chairs down there when we got some new stuff for upstairs. So here's how it looks now:

She's so funny! When she finds this crown she brings it to me and wants me to put it on her. Then she'll just go around and play till it falls off or something.

R is for Rainbow

Madilynn is sooo full of energy and always go, go, go! In order to keep her from being bored we have been more consistent with crafts, learning the letters, numbers, and writing letters at home. This is helping her behavior and attitude. Also, she spends a lot longer (time) on each activity than she used to. Last Thursday it seemed like she spent the entire day at the kitchen table coloring and had so much fun!

Here she is Tuesday morning playing dress up - she's a fairy, lately the unicorn has been dressed up as well...complete with tutu and necklaces! Today when I picked her up from Preschool she had this blank orange paper and said we needed to make a crown...So, after naptime I cut the paper into two strips, we got out the stickers, and crayons and she went to creating! When she was all done I taped the ends together...and there you have it! Her crown

Today we focused on the letter "R". We read the story of Noah, or should I say Madilynn told me the story when she saw the rainbow - she's so smart. Then she colored and cut out the rainbow.

Last week we did "Q" is for quilt and we made a little "quilt". She got the idea anyway, then she practiced her "Q's" at the bottom!

After the rainbow lesson this afternoon we practiced writing "R's" in this handy dandy book. It's dry erase markers and you can wipe the pages clean, it has worked out great! I think she's gone through all of the letters already and she just got it for her birthday!

Now she can write many letters very well including...M...A...P...T...Q...L...I...and we're working on D, Y, N, and E. So she can write her name all by herself. It has been so fun working with her and watching her learn to write, such a neat experience for me!

The girls had a big time playing in our basically empty living room Sunday night! We moved most of our current furniture downstairs to the 'playroom' to make way for some new stuff we bought on Saturday!

Monday morning our new sofa & loveseat arrived!

we got an ottoman too which should arrive in about a week or so...we love it!

14 Months!

Elizabeth is 14 months old today!

With that age comes...more teeth! She's cutting her top 1yr molars, and eye teeth. She's been a little extra fussy yesterday, last night, and today. I gave her tylenol and held/comforted her in the rocker this afternoon, it was about time for nap, and I sat her in the floor with Madilynn for a few minutes so I could get some pumpkin bars out of the oven and clean up lunch a little....next thing I know here's Elizabeth...poor baby was so tired and didn't feel good. She's napping in her room now!

Elizabeth has started doing lots of different things this month and is getting SO BIG!

This is her new-found toy...an empty wipes container...lately she's had fun going to some shelves in her room and seeing what she can find, like this container, shoes, and she even found the trash (where we put the diapers) - she's heard "no, no" lots lately and can definately say it too!
She loves this little pony!
She needs help getting on it, then she has to have the music on, and she starts rocking (just learned how to rock herself last weekend!) when the music stops she grunts and tries to squeeze the ears to start it again.

She loves to play peek-a-boo with us, but now it's a little different. She's the one doing it and she says "Boo" it's so cute!

Not quite sure exactly how she learned, but we had the gate open one day and were heading downstairs and she got on her belly and started sliding down feet first! Of course crawling up is so much fun too!

The past week here has been colder. With some spitting snow here and there. Madilynn has taken her gloves to school this week (for outside time). Anyways, so I got out this sweater jacket that was Madilynn's at this age and I just love it! I think it looks so cute on her.

I'm going to have to find a picture of Madilynn wearing it and do a little comparison post - too cute!!

Something else Elizabeth just did today (and I don't have a picture of it) is she figured how to open the drawers in the kitchen. She was "helping" me find more kitchen towels - ha!

She's growing so fast!!!
